# AI object detection video art

**TekDetek** runs **luma detection VJ**, object boxes, and a **pose detection visualizer** on webcam or MP4. Drive ASCII or Overlay only inside tracked regions. Models run in-browser after first load — no cloud API.
TekDetek is not completely free. Luma is free with a 16-box cap. Objects cap at 4 boxes; pose at 2 people. [Pro](https://tekdetek.gumroad.com/l/xkljia) raises those caps and unlocks clean unlimited export. Free record stays watermarked and 20 seconds.

Free: open the app, swipe and edit looks (phone reaction-diffusion and cellular automata included), luma detection, Hand, watermarked MP4 or PNG up to 20 seconds, watermarked OBS up to 5 minutes (restart anytime).

Pro: clean export with no watermark, unlimited record and OBS, full preset library, Shuffle, Depth and Alt ASCII, add RD / CA / PreText / GEO 3D / Sonify on the desktop graph, higher detection caps. TekDetek is not completely free.

## Luma vs objects vs pose

**Luma** — bright-cell grid, no model. Best for club silhouettes. Free cap 16 boxes; Pro 64.

## Boxes into ASCII or overlay

Enable “only in boxes” on [ASCII FX](https://vikmil.com/tekdetek-nodes.html#ascii) or fan lines on [OVERLAY](https://vikmil.com/tekdetek-nodes.html#overlay).
Hand is a separate free node with its own camera. GEO 3D is a stylized mesh — Pro to add on desktop.
